Why private training?
I recommend anyone who is new to the Pilates system to invest in a few initial private sessions. If you have certain conditions or injuries, private training is an absolute must for you. I have often encountered clients in group sessions whose needs could not be met due to the nature of group training. It is crucial to understand your body and it's modifications before you can carry on to group (reformer) classes. A few conditions I've worked with include: scoliosis, hyper-mobility, frozen shoulder, prolapse, bulging discs and osteoporosis. I have also worked with pre/post natal clients. Pilates can be an amazing tool to help these conditions, however, it is absolutely crucial you are evaluated and trained privately so you can achieve the best (and safest) results. Private training is also hugely beneficial for those who are looking for a personalized approach and feedback. Athletes of all ages and sport can also benefit from regular Pilates training, as we can create a plan specific to your sport, conditioning and recovery needs.
What can I expect?
During an initial private session, you will receive a full postural assessment to bring awareness to any possible issues in alignment and gait. We will use a variety of equipment on the mat and reformer to address certain issues and goals. You will often be given "homework" based on what we discover so you can integrate the work into your life. Sessions are 60 minutes in length and are offered at Sweat Co studio in downtown Vancouver.
